Description

The VIM-BAGCAM2 is a handbag with a camera module beside the zipper. It runs on an internal 2500mAh battery, joins a 2.4GHz WiFi network and streams to the free Android or iOS app, so it works either as a bag you carry or as a camera you set down in a room of your own.

Live view runs at 4K and recordings are saved at 1080p Full HD with audio, to a microSD card up to 128GB or to cloud storage. The battery gives about five hours, and there is room inside for a USB power bank when you need longer.

Features

No cables: a 2500mAh rechargeable battery gives about five hours, so it works away from any power socket.
4K live, 1080p recorded: the live stream is Ultra HD and files written to the card are 1080p Full HD with audio.
WiFi and app: connects to a 2.4GHz router and gives live view, playback and settings on Android or iOS.
Motion alerts: movement starts recording and sends a pop-up notification to your phone.
Card or cloud: save locally to microSD up to 128GB, to cloud storage, or both.
Room for a power bank: a standard USB power bank inside the bag extends recording well past five hours.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

A Room In Your Own Home Or Premises

Set the bag down on a bench or a shelf where it belongs anyway and it covers the room. The battery means the position is decided by the view rather than by where the sockets are.

Moving Between Your Own Sites

Somewhere you need cover for a day rather than permanently. Charge it, carry it, set it down, and pick it up again. Nothing is mounted and nothing is wired.

Personal Safety While Working Alone

Carried, the camera records what is in front of you and the app lets a colleague see the same view. The rules on recording a conversation you are part of differ by state and territory, so read the FAQ below before you rely on it.

How it Works

Charge it: charge the internal battery over USB, and add a power bank inside the bag if you want a longer session.
Connect: install the free Android or iOS app and join the camera to your 2.4GHz WiFi network.
Carry or place it: worn or carried the lens faces out beside the zipper; set down it covers the room in front of it. Watch live in the app or review from the card.

Specifications

Power: 5V, 2A maximum. Use the adapter supplied, or a standard 5V USB charger or power bank rated 2A or less. Do not use fast chargers (USB-C PD, Quick Charge, Super Fast Charging) or high-output power banks: they can damage the device.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it run on the battery?

About five hours on the 2500mAh cell. A standard USB power bank inside the bag runs it for a full day.

What resolution is actually recorded?

1080p Full HD. The 4K figure is the live streaming mode rather than the file saved to the card.

Does it need a WiFi router?

Yes, for live view and alerts it joins a 2.4GHz network. Out of range it keeps recording to the card and you review the footage afterwards.

Where is the lens?

Beside the zipper, facing out from the front of the bag.

What am I allowed to record with a bag I carry?

Owning and wearing a camera like this is lawful in Australia, and so is filming in public places and on property you own or control. Surveillance devices laws differ by state and territory, and filming people where they expect privacy, such as a bathroom or bedroom, or recording a private conversation you are not part of, is generally not allowed. This is general information, not legal advice.
