Description

The Securitylab VIM-VOICETINYB is a compact digital voice recorder for people who need a long recording session without watching a battery gauge. A solid metal case houses a high sensitivity microphone that captures mono audio at 192 kb/s across a 100 to 10000 Hz band, with built in noise reduction to keep speech intelligible when a room gets busy.

Voice activation starts recording when sound is detected and pauses through silence, and the recorder runs for up to 80 hours of continuous operation on a charge. Recordings are held on 8 GB of built in memory, reviewed on the spot through the supplied earphones, and copied to a Windows 10 or 11 computer over USB 2.0 with no software to install first.

Features

Voice activation: Recording starts when sound is detected and pauses through silence, saving battery and storage across a long session.
Up to 80 hours continuous: A single charge covers a long job, so you are not tied to a charger partway through.
Clear speech capture: A high sensitivity microphone working across 100 to 10000 Hz, the range that carries most of a human voice.
Built in noise reduction: Trims background sound so dialogue stays intelligible when a room gets busy.
8 GB of built in memory: Recordings are held on the device itself, with no memory card to buy or lose.
Solid metal case: A small, light body that travels in a pocket or a laptop bag without extra protection.
Plug in and copy: Reads as a drive on Windows 10 and 11 over USB 2.0, and plays back through the supplied earphones without a computer at all.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

Long meetings and lectures

Eighty hours of continuous operation covers a week of lectures or a multi day hearing without a charger in sight. Start it at the beginning of the session, let it run, and copy the files off at the end of the week rather than at the end of every day.

Interviews you are conducting

Researchers, journalists and HR staff use a recorder like this for interviews they take part in, with the agreement of the person being interviewed. Voice activation skips the quiet, so the 8 GB of built in memory goes further across a run of sessions.

Dictation and personal records

Keeping your own record of a difficult phone call or a contractor's promises is one of the most common reasons to buy a recorder. One press starts it, the supplied earphones let you check what you captured, and the file reads as an ordinary drive on a Windows computer when you need to send it on.

How it Works

Charge the recorder over USB, then choose continuous recording or voice activation before you start.
Record. In continuous mode the unit runs for up to 80 hours on a charge, capturing mono audio at 192 kb/s with noise reduction applied as it goes.
Review through the supplied earphones, or plug the recorder into a Windows 10 or 11 computer over USB 2.0, where it reads as a drive and the files copy across like any others.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it record continuously or only when there is sound?

Both. Continuous recording captures everything for as long as the battery lasts, and voice activation starts on detected sound and pauses through silence.

What is the battery runtime?

Up to 80 hours of continuous operation per charge, and longer in practice when voice activation is skipping the quiet stretches.

Can I listen back without a computer?

Yes. Plug the supplied earphones into the recorder and play files back on the device.

Do I need to install software to get the files off?

No. Connect over USB 2.0 and the recorder reads as an ordinary drive on Windows 10 and 11, so recordings copy across like any other file.

What audio quality does it record at?

Mono at 192 kb/s across a 100 to 10000 Hz band, with noise reduction applied to keep speech intelligible.

Is it legal to record audio in Australia?

Recording your own dictation, a meeting where everyone knows it is recording, or sound in your own empty home, vehicle or site is lawful. Surveillance devices laws differ by state and territory: recording a conversation you are part of is allowed in some states and restricted in others, and recording a private conversation you are not part of is generally not allowed. This is general information, not legal advice.
