You get a motion alert, you open the clip, and it is too soft to make out who it was or what they were driving. That is the problem this kit is built to fix.

Four 5MP Sony Starvis cameras feed a four channel PoE recorder that sits inside your house. Each camera takes its power and sends its video down one Ethernet cable, so there is a single run to each position instead of a power point and a video cable. Infrared covers 25 metres, the housings are IP66, and H.265+ compression keeps weeks of footage on a hard drive of up to 8TB. Live view and playback run from the free app with no monthly fee for the basics.

Features

Four 5MP Sony Starvis cameras: 1/2.8 inch CMOS with a 3.6mm fixed lens, for detail at the gate and the door rather than a shape.
One cable per camera: IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet, so a single run carries both the power and the video. Two 20 metre and two 30 metre cables are supplied.
Storage that lasts: H.265+ compression makes files about half the size of H.264, and the recorder takes a hard drive of up to 8TB. Each camera also holds a microSD card of up to 512GB.
Night vision to 25 metres: Infrared LEDs on every camera, in IP66 weatherproof housings.
Watch from anywhere: The free app streams live video and sends motion alerts to your phone, and playback works from the phone or a PC.

Real-World Scenarios

The front door and the driveway

Most of what people actually want to see happens within ten metres of the front door. At 5MP with a 3.6mm lens you get a face at the doorstep and a plate at the end of a short drive, and the infrared holds up to 25 metres once it is dark.

The back of the yard and the boundary

The far corner of a yard is dark and nobody is looking at it. Infrared switches on by itself and the IP66 housings are made to sit out in rain and wind all winter. One Ethernet run gets a camera out there without an electrician putting in a power point first.

A shop or workshop after hours

The doors shut and the recorder keeps writing. Motion detection triggers a recording and pushes an alert to your phone, so you can open the live view and see what is going on before you decide whether to ring anyone. Nothing depends on the internet staying up for the footage to be saved.

How it Works

Run one Ethernet cable from the recorder to each camera. It carries both the power and the video, and the kit supplies two 20 metre and two 30 metre cables.
Fit a SATA hard drive of up to 8TB (not included) and plug the recorder into your router. The cameras come up on the recorder's PoE ports with no network setup to do.
Add the recorder to the free iOS or Android app for live view, playback and motion alerts. Cloud backup is optional and needs its own subscription; everything else runs with no monthly fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this need WiFi?

No. The cameras plug into the recorder's PoE ports with Ethernet cable. You only need an internet connection at the recorder if you want to watch from your phone when you are out.

Is a hard drive included?

No. It takes a SATA hard drive of up to 8TB. We can fit one before dispatch at extra cost: contact us before you order for a quote. Without one you can watch live but nothing is saved.

How far can the cables run?

Ethernet runs to about 100 metres per camera. This kit includes two 20 metre and two 30 metre cables, and longer ones can be bought if a position needs it.

Can I add more cameras later?

The recorder has four channels, so four is the limit on this unit. ONVIF support means these cameras will work with a larger recorder if you outgrow it.

Is there a monthly fee?

Not for live view, alerts or playback. Cloud backup is the only part that needs a subscription and it is entirely optional.
