Description

The LawMate PV-CC10W is a WiFi camera built into a coffee cup lid, with the cups supplied underneath it. The cup is not for drinking from: it must not be filled with hot water.

A 1/3 inch progressive CMOS sensor records 1920 x 1080p at 30fps in H.264, with motion triggered recording, a date and time stamp, and a vibration alert for power on and off, recording and low battery without a sound. A 16GB card is included, which holds about 160 minutes of Full HD, and the slot takes cards up to 32GB.

Features

Camera in the lid: The camera, the WiFi and the 1400mAh battery all sit in the lid, and three plain cups come in the box to sit under it.
Full HD with audio: 1920 x 1080p at 30fps in H.264 saved as MOV, with 2304 x 1536 JPG stills and sound from a built in microphone.
Vibration feedback: A vibration confirms power on and off, recording and low battery, so you can tell what state it is in without looking at it.
Motion alerts: Movement triggers a recording and sends a notification to the app over an 802.11b/g/n network.
Date and time stamp: Every frame carries the date and time, which is what makes a recording usable as a record of when something happened.
Indoor and outdoor: The supplier rates it for use in both indoor and outdoor environments.
About 160 minutes on 16GB: A 16GB card holds roughly 160 minutes of Full HD, and cards up to 32GB are supported.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

A workbench or a service desk you run

A cup on the bench is an ordinary thing to find there, and it gives a table height view of the bench that a ceiling camera cannot. Tell your staff the area is recorded.

A home office or a study

On your own desk it covers the room from the same height as everything else on the surface, and it comes with you between rooms.

A market stall or a temporary site

There is nothing to mount and nothing to plug in. Charge the lid, set it down at a stall or a stand you are running, and take it away with you at the end of the day.

How it Works

Charge the lid and fit a card: Charge the 3.7V 1400mAh polymer cell in the lid over USB and fit a microSD card up to 32GB. A card is an accessory rather than a standard inclusion.
Set it down in your own space: Put the lid on one of the supplied cups and stand it on a desk, a bench or a table inside premises you own or manage, with the 66 degree lens facing the area you want covered. Do not fill the cup with hot water.
Connect and arm it: Join it to your 802.11b/g/n WiFi in the app, switch on motion recording and alerts, and watch live when you want to see the room.

Specifications

Power: 5V, 2A maximum. Use the adapter supplied, or a standard 5V USB charger or power bank rated 2A or less. Do not use fast chargers (USB-C PD, Quick Charge, Super Fast Charging) or high-output power banks: they can damage the device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the cup hold a drink?

No. The lid holds the camera and the battery, and the cups are there to sit under it. Do not fill it with hot water or any other liquid.

How long can it record on a charge?

Storage is the shorter limit in practice: the included 16GB card holds about 160 minutes of Full HD. Cards up to 32GB are supported, which roughly doubles that.

What storage cards work with it?

A 16GB microSD card comes with it, which the manufacturer has confirmed, and the slot takes cards up to 32GB if you want to upgrade.

Which WiFi networks does it work with?

Standard 802.11b/g/n networks. Live view, settings and motion alerts all run through the app once it has joined one.

What can I lawfully record with a camera like this in Australia?

Using a camera like this to protect your own home, business, property and family is lawful in Australia. Surveillance devices laws differ by state and territory, and filming people where they expect privacy, such as a bathroom or bedroom, or recording a private conversation you are not part of, is generally not allowed. If carers, cleaners, staff or guests use the space, tell them a camera is there. This is general information, not legal advice.
