Description

The VIM-HUBCAM3 is a working 10 port USB charging hub with a camera and 32GB of built in memory in the same body. It charges up to ten phones, tablets or other devices at a rated 60W in total, up to 2.4A from any one port, and runs from a power point through the supplied mains lead, so it records around the clock with no battery to run flat.

Live view streams at Ultra HD 4K in the app on Android or iOS, while recording is Full HD 1080p, saved as date and time stamped MP4 files to the internal 32GB, which holds about 50 hours of footage before the oldest clips are overwritten. It offers video plus audio recording through a built-in microphone. The pinhole lens sits among the vents on the front face with a 90 degree view, motion detection reaches about 12 metres and sends a pop up alert to the phone, and there is no card to buy or lose.

Features

Charges 10 devices at once: Ten USB-A ports across two rows share a rated 60W, so a shared counter or bench stops queueing for the one free socket.
Up to 2.4A per port: Each port reads the device plugged into it and supplies the current that device asks for, up to 2.4A on any single port.
4K live, 1080p recorded: Live view runs at Ultra HD 4K in the app, and clips are saved at Full HD 1080p as MP4 files with the date and time stamped on them.
Video plus audio recording: A built-in microphone records sound alongside the picture, so clips play back with audio.
32GB built in: About 50 hours of 1080p footage on internal memory, so there is no card to buy, fit or lose. The oldest clips are overwritten first, and looping can be switched off.
Lens hidden in the front vent: The pinhole sits among the vent slots on the front face and covers 90 degrees, enough for a room from a corner or a counter and its approach.
Continuous or motion recording: Record around the clock, or only when something moves. Motion detection reaches about 12 metres and sends a pop up alert to the phone.
Remote live view: Free Android and iOS apps give live streaming, playback, settings and alerts over 2.4GHz WiFi, with a direct short range connection to the phone where there is no internet.
Mains powered, no battery: It runs from a power point through the supplied figure-8 mains lead, so it covers the space around the clock rather than for the length of a battery.
Overload protection: Draw more than the rated 60W and it stops charging, then restores itself about a minute after the load drops.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

A reception or a front counter you manage

Every visitor and every staff member walks past the counter, and a charging hub belongs there, so it draws no attention. Set it with the front vent facing the counter approach, and the ports get used all day.

A stockroom or a back office

The room that holds stock, keys and the cash float often has no camera at all. Ten ports earn the hub a place on the bench, and a power point is always within reach. Tell your staff the area is recorded.

A home office or a shared desk

A desk where phones, tablets and headphones charge every day is doing a real job already, and the hub gives you a record of your own space without adding another device to plug in.

How it Works

Plug it in: Connect the supplied figure-8 mains lead to the hub and a power point. There is no card to fit and no battery to charge.
Set it where a charging hub belongs: Put it on a desk, counter or bench inside premises you own or manage, with the front vent facing the area you want covered.
Connect and arm it: Join it to a 2.4GHz WiFi network in the free app on Android or iOS, choose continuous or motion recording, switch on alerts, and check live view whenever you want to see the room.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the hub still charge while the camera records?

Yes. Charging and recording run at the same time. All 10 ports stay live while the camera records, and the 60W rating covers the whole set.

Can I use the ports to transfer files?

No. The ports charge only and there is no data path, so a drive or a phone plugged into it moves nothing to a computer. Footage comes off through the app on your phone.

What resolution does it actually save?

Recording is Full HD 1080p at 15fps. The 4K figure is the live streaming mode, so 1080p is what you keep for later.

Is there a memory card slot?

No. Storage is 32GB of built in memory, about 50 hours of 1080p footage. On continuous recording it fills in a little over two days and then overwrites the oldest clips. On motion only, the same memory covers weeks in a room that stays quiet.

Can it run continuously?

Yes. It runs from a power point through the supplied mains lead, so there is no battery and no runtime limit.

Will it work on 5GHz WiFi?

No. It joins 2.4GHz networks only. Most routers broadcast both bands, so put the phone on the 2.4GHz band while you pair it. A network that runs 5GHz alone will not see it.

Does it see in the dark?

No. There is no night vision, so it works off the light in the room and shows black and white as the light fades. For a space that goes fully dark after hours, choose a camera with infrared night vision.

Does it record sound?

Yes. It offers video plus audio recording through a built-in microphone, so clips play back with sound. Audio carries stricter rules than video: recording a private conversation you are not part of is generally not allowed in Australia, so choose where it sits with that in mind.

What can I lawfully record with a camera like this in Australia?

Using a camera like this to protect your own home, business, property and family is lawful in Australia. Surveillance devices laws differ by state and territory, and filming people where they expect privacy, such as a bathroom or bedroom, or recording a private conversation you are not part of, is generally not allowed. If carers, cleaners, staff or guests use the space, tell them a camera is there. This is general information, not legal advice.
