The VIM-USBCAM5 is a working USB flash drive with a 1080p camera in it and 32GB of memory built in. Plugged into a computer or a charger it records continuously; unplugged it runs about 100 minutes on its own cell.
There is no card slot and no app. Files are AVI video and JPEG stills, and you read them by plugging the drive into a computer, which is the same thing you would do with any flash drive.
No. The 32GB is built in and there is no card slot, which is the trade for having nothing to buy and nothing to lose. If you need more storage, choose a model with a card slot.
Plugged into a USB power source it records continuously without drawing on the internal battery, so it can be left running.
About 100 minutes from the 300mAh cell, then 2 to 3 hours to recharge.
Plug it into a computer. It presents as an ordinary USB drive and you copy the AVI and JPEG files across.
Yes. It offers video plus audio recording through a built-in microphone, so footage plays back with sound. Audio carries stricter rules than video: recording a private conversation you are not part of is generally not allowed in Australia, so keep audio to conversations you are part of.
Using a camera like this to protect your own home, business, property and family is lawful in Australia. Surveillance devices laws differ by state and territory, and filming people where they expect privacy, such as a bathroom or bedroom, or recording a private conversation you are not part of, is generally not allowed. If carers, cleaners, staff or guests use the space, tell them a camera is there. This is general information, not legal advice.
