Description

The VIM-BLUEWIFI7 is a wireless phone charging dock with a 1080p camera in the body. It works from its internal battery or the supplied adapter, so it can either run continuously in a fixed position or be moved somewhere with no socket for a session.

It records 1920 x 1080 from a 2MP sensor to a microSD card up to 128GB, streams live over its own WiFi to the app, and has infrared reaching about 7m for dark rooms. Minimum illumination is 0.3 lux, so it holds a picture in low light before the infrared is even needed.

Features

Battery or mains: runs from the rechargeable battery where there is no socket, or from the supplied adapter for continuous 24/7 recording.
Infrared to about 7m: longer reach than most dock cameras, covering a full room in the dark without adding visible light to it.
Works in low light: minimum illumination of 0.3 lux, so it keeps a usable colour picture well before the infrared cuts in.
1080p with audio: 1920 x 1080 from a 2MP sensor with a built-in microphone.
WiFi live view: stream in real time to your phone and change settings in the app.
Motion alerts: push notifications when movement is detected, so you review events rather than hours.
Records while charging: the dock charges an Android phone or iPhone while the camera keeps recording.
128GB local storage: microSD up to 128GB for video and audio.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

A Bedside Table Or Desk At Home

Your own room, where a charging dock is the natural object. Run it from the adapter for continuous cover, or on the battery if the nearest socket is across the room.

A Dark Room Or Hallway

Infrared reaching about 7m is what separates this from the shorter range docks. It covers a full room after the lights go off rather than just the desk it sits on.

Reception Or Counter You Run

Premises you manage, with notice at the entrance. Visitors get somewhere to charge a phone and the area is covered during opening hours.

How it Works

Set it up: place the dock where you want the room covered, fit a microSD card up to 128GB, and either plug in the adapter or run it on the battery.
Connect: join it to WiFi in the mobile app for live view, settings and motion alerts.
Record and review: choose continuous or motion recording, then watch live or play back from the card.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it record continuously?

Yes. Run it from the supplied charger for uninterrupted 24/7 recording, or on the internal battery for a session where there is no socket.

How far does the night vision reach?

Up to about 7m, which is a full room rather than just the desk. Minimum illumination is 0.3 lux, so it holds a picture in dim light before the infrared is needed at all.

What is the field of view?

100 degrees, which the manufacturer has confirmed. Ignore the 85 degree figure that appears on some older material for this model.

What storage does it take?

A microSD card up to 128GB, which is not supplied. You can also watch live in the app without recording.

Does it charge my phone while recording?

Yes. The dock charges an Android phone or an iPhone while the camera continues recording.

Where can I put this and stay within the law?

Using a camera like this to protect your own home, business, property and family is lawful in Australia. Surveillance devices laws differ by state and territory, and filming people where they expect privacy, such as a bathroom or bedroom, or recording a private conversation you are not part of, is generally not allowed. If carers, cleaners, staff or guests use the space, tell them a camera is there. This is general information, not legal advice.
