Description

The VIM-WIFIWM8 is a slim 5200mAh power bank with a camera in the housing. It joins your WiFi network and streams 1080p to the Android or iOS app, so you can check a room from anywhere rather than waiting to read the card.

It records video with audio to a microSD card up to 128GB, runs up to 24 hours continuously, and sends push alerts on motion within about 6m in daylight. There is no infrared, so for a dark room use continuous recording rather than motion.

Features

WiFi live view: connects to your router and streams 1080p Full HD to the free Android or iOS app from anywhere with internet.
Up to 24 hours continuous: a 5200mAh rechargeable battery covers a full day and night of unbroken recording.
Video with audio: sound is recorded alongside the picture.
Motion alerts: movement within about 6m triggers recording and a push notification. This is a daylight range: there is no infrared emitter.
128GB storage: microSD up to 128GB, with footage kept locally.
It is a working power bank: 5200mAh charges your own devices, and it is slim enough to travel with.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

Checking A Room From Elsewhere

Your own home or office while you are out. Live view in the app is the reason to pick this over a card-only recorder: you see the room now rather than reviewing it tonight.

A Long Unbroken Recording

Up to 24 hours continuous on the internal battery, in a space you own, where you need the whole stretch rather than motion clips.

Daytime Cover In Your Own Premises

Motion detection reaches about 6m in daylight. For a room used during working hours that is the efficient mode: the card fills with events rather than an empty desk.

How it Works

Charge and load: charge the 5200mAh battery over USB and fit a microSD card up to 128GB.
Connect: install the Android or iOS app and join the camera to your WiFi network.
Choose the mode: continuous for up to 24 hours, or motion activated for daytime cover to about 6m. Watch live or review recordings in the app.

Specifications

Power: 5V, 2A maximum. Use the adapter supplied, or a standard 5V USB charger or power bank rated 2A or less. Do not use fast chargers (USB-C PD, Quick Charge, Super Fast Charging) or high-output power banks: they can damage the device.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I view it remotely?

Join it to your WiFi network, then use the Android or iOS app to watch live, change settings and review recordings from anywhere with an internet connection.

What recording modes are there?

Continuous recording for up to 24 hours, or motion activated recording that starts when movement is detected.

Does motion detection work at night?

No. Motion detection is specified for daytime out to about 6m and there is no infrared emitter, so in low light use continuous recording instead. If you need night cover, choose a camera with infrared.

How much storage does it take?

A microSD card up to 128GB. Older files can be deleted from the app to free space.

How long does the battery last?

The 5200mAh cell supports up to 24 hours of continuous recording. Live streaming and frequent motion events shorten that.

Where can I legally use this?

Using a camera like this to protect your own home, business, property and family is lawful in Australia. Surveillance devices laws differ by state and territory, and filming people where they expect privacy, such as a bathroom or bedroom, or recording a private conversation you are not part of, is generally not allowed. If carers, cleaners, staff or guests use the space, tell them a camera is there. This is general information, not legal advice.
