Description

A wireless radio microphone and a receiver base, quoted at up to 1,500 metres in open ground with no obstacles. The microphone goes where the sound is and the base stays with you, with a built in speaker or an earphone jack for listening and a recorder function for keeping the audio.

The microphone is 57 x 32 x 18mm and 25g, the base 89 x 52 x 24mm and 80g. Both are rechargeable over USB. It is built for hearing and recording activity across a property you own or manage, at a distance no cable would cover.

Features

Range across a property: Up to 1,500 metres in open ground with no obstacles between the microphone and the base. Buildings, fences and terrain all shorten that, so treat it as the best case.
Listen or record: The base has a built in speaker and an earphone jack for listening, and a recorder function for keeping what it hears.
Sensitive microphone: A sensitive capsule in a 25g body, so it can sit where a larger microphone would not.
Adjustable volume: Set the level on the base to suit the environment you are listening in.
Rechargeable at both ends: Microphone and base both charge over USB, so there are no disposable cells to keep replacing.
Small enough to place: Microphone 57 x 32 x 18mm at 25g, base 89 x 52 x 24mm at 80g.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

Yards, Sheds and Outbuildings

A shed at the back of a property is out of earshot, and running a cable to it is not practical.

Place the microphone in the building and keep the base with you. In open ground the link is quoted at up to 1,500 metres, which covers most of a working property.

Livestock and Stock Yards

You want to know when stock are unsettled at night without walking out to check every time.

The microphone picks up the yard and the base speaker carries it to where you are, with the recorder function keeping anything you want to review.

Recording Your Own Meetings at Distance

In a large room or a workshop, a recorder in your pocket hears the room, not the speaker.

The microphone sits near the person talking while the base records. Tell the people present that you are recording before you start, which is both good practice and what the law expects.

How it Works

Charge both units: Charge the radio microphone and the receiver base over the supplied USB charger.
Place the microphone: Set the microphone where the sound is. The link is quoted at up to 1,500 metres in open ground; walls, sheds and terrain reduce it, so test the placement you intend to use.
Listen or record at the base: Listen through the built in speaker or the earphone jack, set the volume to suit, and use the recorder function to keep the audio.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 1500 metre range realistic?

It is the open ground figure with nothing between the microphone and the base. Across a paddock with clear line of sight you can expect to get close to it. Through farm buildings, steel sheds or a stand of trees it will be a fraction of that. Test the placement you actually intend to use before relying on it.

Can I listen without anyone else hearing it?

The base has an earphone jack as well as a speaker, so you can listen through headphones where a speaker would be disruptive, for example in a shared office or a vehicle.

Does it record, or only listen?

Both. The base has a voice recorder function as well as live listening through the speaker or earphones.

How long do the batteries last?

Both units are rechargeable over the supplied USB charger. The manufacturer does not publish a runtime figure for either, so treat it as a device you charge between uses rather than one you leave out for weeks. If you need a stated runtime, the WiFi and 4G recorders in this range publish theirs.

What can I lawfully use it for?

Listening to and recording activity on property you own or manage, where no private conversation is taking place, is lawful. Surveillance devices laws differ by state and territory: recording a conversation you are part of is allowed in some states and restricted in others, and recording a private conversation you are not part of is generally not allowed. This is general information, not legal advice.
