Description

A camera at a farm gate, a machinery yard or a construction entrance is often a long way from a power point. The VIM-S120W120 brings power to it: three 40W monocrystalline panels, 120W in total, charge a 120Ah lithium battery through an MPPT controller, and two DC leads with 5.5 x 2.1mm plugs supply compatible 12V equipment.

The battery holds a calculated 1,332Wh of nominal energy (11.1V x 120Ah) for overnight running and cloudy spells, with overcharge, undervoltage and high and low temperature protection built in. The alloy housing and triangular bracket are IP66 rated and include a mounting position for a camera at the front. The kit supplies power only: a WiFi camera still needs a WiFi network, and a 4G camera its own SIM and coverage.

Features

  • 120W from three panels: Three 40W monocrystalline panels give a combined peak rating of 120W. Actual generation depends on sunlight, shading, panel angle and season.
  • 120Ah lithium battery: 18650 lithium-ion cells store a calculated 1,332Wh of nominal energy, so connected equipment keeps running after sunset and through low-sun periods.
  • MPPT charge control: Maximum power point tracking manages charging from the panels, with charging and discharging control built in.
  • Two DC output leads: 5.5 x 2.1mm barrel plugs on a 12V DC system, with a stated maximum output of 6A in total, not 6A per lead.
  • IP66 outdoor build: Alloy metal housing and bracket, rated IP66 against dust and rain, with a front position for mounting a camera.
  • Battery protection: Overcharge, undervoltage, high temperature and low temperature protection.
  • Status at a glance: A flashing blue light shows charging, and a flashing red light shows the kit is supplying power.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

A Farm Gate or Boundary Camera

The camera belongs at the gate, and the nearest power point is at the house. The kit sits beside it on its bracket, charges by day and runs a compatible 12V camera through the night.

A Construction Site Before Power Is Connected

Site power arrives late and moves around. A self-contained solar supply covers the entrance or the materials compound from the first week, with no cable to trip over or relocate.

A Remote Shed or Equipment Yard

Machinery storage and remote sheds are where theft happens and where power is least likely to be. Size the camera's power draw against the battery and the sunlight at the site, and the kit keeps it running.

How it Works

  1. Position the panels: mount the kit where the panels get good sun with little shading, using the bracket and the four stainless steel clamps supplied.
  2. Connect the equipment: check your camera's voltage, current draw, plug size and polarity, then connect it to one of the two DC output leads.
  3. Let it run: the MPPT controller charges the battery by day and the battery supplies the equipment at night. Blue flashing shows charging, red flashing shows power going out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it work with my existing camera?

It depends on the camera's power requirements. Check its accepted voltage range, maximum current draw, plug size and polarity against the 12V DC output and the 5.5 x 2.1mm plugs. A matching plug alone does not make a camera compatible.

Does it supply power at night?

Yes. The battery supplies connected equipment when the panels are not generating, as long as enough charge remains.

What does the 1,332Wh figure mean?

It is the calculated nominal energy of a 120Ah battery at 11.1V. The energy delivered at the DC outputs is lower because of conversion losses and the battery protection limits.

How many cloudy days will it run?

There is no single figure for every installation. For planning, divide the usable energy in watt-hours by your equipment's average power draw in watts. Continuous recording, infrared at night and other camera functions all change that draw.

Can I run two devices at once?

Yes, through the two DC leads, as long as both are compatible and their combined draw stays within the stated 6A maximum. The 6A is for the system, not for each lead.

Does it connect my camera to the internet?

No. It is a power supply only. A WiFi camera still needs a WiFi network in range, and a 4G camera needs its own SIM and mobile coverage.
