The VIM-WIFISMOKE5 is a Full HD WiFi camera built into a smoke detector shell, 130 x 130 x 56mm, that mounts on a ceiling or a high wall without wiring. It is not a working smoke alarm and does not sense smoke.

A 2MP CMOS sensor records 1920 x 1080p at 25fps in H.264 across a 111 degree view, with audio. It joins a 2.4GHz network, supports ONVIF, and streams live to the Android or iOS app with push alerts. A 10,000mAh polymer cell gives up to six months of standby, a supplied remote switches it on and off, and video is written to a microSD card up to 128GB.

Does it detect smoke?

No. The housing is the shape of a smoke detector but there is no smoke sensor inside, so it must not replace a certified alarm. Keep a working smoke alarm in the room as well.

Which WiFi band does it need?

2.4GHz only, on IEEE 802.11b/g/n. A 5GHz only network will not pair with it, so check your router has a 2.4GHz band switched on.

How long does the battery last?

Up to six months on standby from the 10,000mAh cell. That figure depends almost entirely on how many times a day something triggers it, because each recording and each alert costs charge, so a rarely used room will get far closer to six months than a busy one. Continuous recording and live viewing draw far more again, and the camera can be left on charge to run without interruption.

Can I record without the phone app?

Yes. It supports ONVIF, so a recorder or NVR software that speaks ONVIF can pull the stream, and the supplied remote arms and disarms the camera on its own.
