Description

The VIM-BLUEWIFI13 is the large one: a 380mm Bluetooth speaker at 550g, with a 1080p WiFi camera built in. It is a mains device rather than a portable one, which suits a speaker that is going to live on a shelf anyway.

It streams live over WiFi to the free Android or iOS app, records Full HD with audio, and supports two-way audio so you can listen and speak through it. Night vision covers a dark room, motion detection pushes an alert to your phone, and loop recording keeps the newest footage when the built in 32GB fills.

Features

A full size Bluetooth speaker: 380mm and 550g of actual speaker, which is why it belongs on a shelf.
24/7 recording on mains: Built for continuous operation while plugged in, rather than for battery use.
Full HD with audio: 1920 x 1080p in H.264, recorded with sound to 32GB of built in memory.
Two-way audio: Listen to the room and speak into it through the app.
Night vision: Keeps recording in a dark room after the lights go off.
Loop recording: The oldest files are overwritten once storage is full, so the most recent footage survives.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

Your Own Lounge

A speaker this size lives in a lounge. Plugged in, it records the room continuously while you are out of the house.

A Child's Room in Your Own Home

Music during the day and a camera you can look at from the kitchen. Tell anyone who works in your home that the camera is there.

Your Own Home Office

Continuous recording on mains while the room is empty, with two-way audio if you want to speak to someone in it.

Checking On Your Own Pets

Live view plus two-way audio is the combination people actually use here: you can see the dog, and the dog can hear you.

How it Works

Set it up: connect the speaker to mains power. There is no card to fit: it records to 32GB of built in memory.
Pair it: join it to your WiFi in the free Android or iOS app and set continuous or motion triggered recording.
Watch or review: watch live, speak through the two-way audio, and review clips in the app or by copying them off the built in memory.

Specifications

Power: 5V, 2A maximum. Use the adapter supplied, or a standard 5V USB charger or power bank rated 2A or less. Do not use fast chargers (USB-C PD, Quick Charge, Super Fast Charging) or high-output power banks: they can damage the device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it run on battery?

No. The supplier lists no battery for this model, so it is a mains device. That suits a speaker of this size, which is not going to be moved around much.

How much recording does it hold?

It has 32GB of built in memory and no card slot, which the manufacturer has now confirmed. Loop recording keeps the newest footage once that fills, so copy off anything you want to keep.

How do I view it remotely?

Connect it to your WiFi and use the free Android or iOS app for live view, playback and notifications.

Does it record sound?

Yes, video with audio, plus two-way audio through the app. Audio is treated more strictly than video in Australia, so use it for conversations you are part of.

Can I use this to check on my children at home?

Yes, using a camera to keep an eye on your own home and children is lawful in Australia. Surveillance devices laws differ by state and territory, and filming people where they expect privacy, such as a bathroom or bedroom, or recording a private conversation you are not part of, is generally not allowed. If a nanny, cleaner or carer works in your home, tell them the camera is there. This is general information, not legal advice.
