Description

The VIM-DIYWIFIN is the low light version of this module family: the same 1080p pinhole camera on a flexible lead, the same 90 degree lens and the same WiFi board, with infrared added so it keeps working after the lights go out.

It records 1920 x 1080p to a microSD card up to 128GB at about 18MB a minute, takes 12MP stills, and streams to the Android and iOS app over your own router. Run it on the internal battery for a short session, on a power bank for longer, or on the supplied DC adapter around the clock.

Features

Low light recording: Infrared keeps the camera working in a dark room without adding visible light to it.
Full HD and 12MP stills: 1920 x 1080p video and 12 megapixel photos to your own card.
Lens on a flexible lead: The lens can look out of a small opening while the board sits behind the panel.
Live view over your own WiFi: Streams to the Android and iOS app and lets you download clips.
Motion activated: Recording starts on movement, so the card and the battery are spent on events rather than on an empty room.
Runs continuously on mains: The supplied DC adapter takes it to 24/7 operation.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

A Dark Room in Your Own House

The infrared is the reason to pick this model over the plain one. A hallway, a garage or a stairwell that has no light in it at night.

Your Own Shed or Lockup

Motion triggered clips on mains power, with the lens through a panel and the board behind it.

Your Own Vehicle

The car case is in the product name and it is a fair one, as long as you tell your passengers before they get in.

A Storeroom or Display Area You Manage

Continuous recording on the DC adapter, with a notice up so anyone working in the room knows it is recorded.

How it Works

Set it up: fit a microSD card up to 128GB and connect the module to the DC adapter, a power bank or its internal battery.
Pair it: join it to 2.4GHz WiFi in the app, position the lens on its lead and set motion or continuous recording.
Watch or review: watch live, download clips in the app, or read the card on a computer.

Specifications

Power: 5V, 2A maximum. Use the adapter supplied, or a standard 5V USB charger or power bank rated 2A or less. Do not use fast chargers (USB-C PD, Quick Charge, Super Fast Charging) or high-output power banks: they can damage the device.

Frequently Asked Questions

How good is the night vision?

The supplier states infrared low light recording but does not give an infrared range or an LED count for this model, so we cannot quote a figure. If a stated night vision distance matters to you, ask us before ordering or choose a model that publishes one.

How long does the battery last?

The supplier does not state a capacity for the internal cell, only that it is rechargeable. Treat it as a short session battery and use the supplied DC adapter or a power bank for anything longer.

Can I watch it remotely?

Yes. Join it to 2.4GHz WiFi and the Android or iOS app gives you live view, settings and downloads.

Does it record all the time or only on motion?

Either. Motion detection saves card space, and continuous or scheduled recording is available when it is on mains power.

Can I record with this legally in Australia?

Using a camera like this to protect your own home, business, property and family is lawful in Australia. Surveillance devices laws differ by state and territory, and filming people where they expect privacy, such as a bathroom or bedroom, or recording a private conversation you are not part of, is generally not allowed. If carers, cleaners, staff or guests use the space, tell them a camera is there. This is general information, not legal advice.
