Description

A guard on a night check has nobody to shout to. The VIM-PC2-5G puts the control room on the vest: live 4K video and a GPS position on the fleet platform, a push to talk key for voice, and an SOS key that sends where the wearer is. It streams over 5G from Telstra, Optus or Vodafone and drops to 4G wherever 5G has not reached.

Pull the main battery mid-shift and a backup cell inside keeps the recording going, so a 12 hour night has no gap at the change. Two 3050mAh batteries and a docking station are in the box, a 128GB card is already fitted, and the 2.8 inch Android 13 touchscreen shows signal, GPS lock and playback on site.

Features

  • 5G with 4G fallback: Uses 5G where Telstra, Optus or Vodafone, your plan and the coverage allow it, and switches to 4G where they do not. Australia no longer has a 3G network, so 4G is the floor, and coverage at each site decides what it can stream.
  • Live video on the control room screen: A supervisor opens any officer's camera from the fleet platform instead of asking over the radio what is happening.
  • Push to talk on its own key: The yellow key opens a voice channel to one officer or the whole group over the mobile network where there is coverage, with no separate radio on the vest.
  • Hot swap battery with no gap: Pull the main battery and a backup cell inside keeps the camera recording through the change.
  • Two batteries and a dock: The docking station charges the camera through its USB-C plug and the spare battery in its own bay at the same time.
  • Magnetic chest mount: Wear the camera centre-chest on a uniform shirt: the magnet plate sits behind the fabric and grips through it, and the camera clips onto the front.
  • 4K at 30fps: 3840 x 2160 footage you can step through frame by frame when reviewing an incident, in H.264 or H.265.
  • EIS stabilisation: Switchable electronic image stabilisation steadies footage from an officer on foot, which makes an incident easier to review.
  • SOS key with the wearer's position: One press on the red key sends an alert with the officer's GPS position to whoever is watching the platform. It needs mobile signal and goes to your control room, not 000.
  • Drop record: With drop record switched on, a knock off the vest or a drop registers on the G-sensor and recording begins by itself.
  • GPS on the live map: GPS, GLONASS and Galileo plot every camera and replay routes. Position is not reliable inside buildings or underground car parks.
  • 128GB card fitted before despatch: Each camera arrives with its 128GB card already in, ready to record from the first shift.
  • 2.8 inch Android 13 touchscreen: Confirm signal, battery and GPS lock before patrol, and play footage back on site without a laptop.
  • Camera on the screen side: A 2MP camera beside the touchscreen faces the same way as the screen, and you switch to it from the touchscreen.
  • Dual SIM slots: Two nano SIM slots in one camera, for teams that run SIMs from two different carriers.
  • Red and blue warning lights: Strobes on the lens panel make the officer easy to spot once switched on.
  • AES-256 encryption: Encrypted video; view-only users cannot delete footage, and manual deletion needs a connected computer, though loop recording replaces the oldest files when it is on.
  • RTSP and RTMP streaming: Send the feed into the video management system you already run rather than adding another screen; over mobile data this takes some network configuration.
  • Pre-record mode: A rolling buffer of up to 60 seconds means pressing record also saves the lead-up, so the start of an incident is on file.
  • Infrared and white light: Infrared switches on after dark by itself, and the white LED lights a doorway or a face at close range.
  • IP68 and a 2 metre drop rating: Sealed against rain and dust, and rated for a 2 metre fall, further than the drop from a vest.
  • Evidence stamp and file marker: The optional stamp adds time, device number, officer ID and, with a GPS fix, position to each file, and one key press flags the clip that matters.

Applications

Mobile patrols across several sites

One patrol car covers a business park, two shopping centres and a depot overnight. The control room sees each officer on the map and opens a live feed the moment an alarm response turns tense. At the rural depot, where 5G has not arrived, the camera carries on over 4G.

Council and transport officers

Parking wardens and transport staff deal with abuse that escalates fast. The camera sits in plain view on the vest, the SOS key sends a position without a phone call, and the stamped footage is ready for the incident report.

After-hours site checks by one guard

A guard checking a building site alone has nobody to call out to. The supervisor sees the guard's position on the map, can open the camera live at any point, and push to talk reaches them without a second device.

How it Works

  1. Fit and check: Insert a SIM from Telstra, Optus or Vodafone, enter the officer's ID, then confirm 5G or 4G signal and GPS lock on the touchscreen before the shift starts.
  2. Record and stream: Press record and pre-record keeps the lead-up, while the control room watches live, follows the GPS track and replies by push to talk.
  3. Offload and charge: At the end of the shift, copy the footage to your own storage over the USB-C cable, then dock the camera and the spare battery to charge.

Specifications

Power: 5V, 2A maximum. Use the adapter supplied, or a standard 5V USB charger or power bank rated 2A or less. Do not use fast chargers (USB-C PD, Quick Charge, Super Fast Charging) or high-output power banks: they can damage the device.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the battery last?

Each 3050mAh battery records for about 8 hours continuously, and two ship in the box. Swap the battery mid-shift and recording carries on through the change, so the pair covers up to 16 hours. Standby passes 300 hours with the platform app off. Live streaming and push to talk shorten all of these figures.

Do body cameras upload to the cloud?

Recordings save to the 128GB card fitted inside the camera, and you copy them off over USB-C to your own storage. The live feed and GPS position go to the fleet platform instead, viewed in the phone app or in Windows software with internet access.

Does it work on Telstra, Optus and Vodafone?

Yes. It takes any Australian SIM provider's nano data SIM and uses 5G where your plan and the network allow it, switching to 4G elsewhere. No SIM is in the box. With no 3G network left in Australia there is no slower fallback, so check reception at remote sites before you roll the cameras out.

Can it stream into our existing video system?

Yes. As well as the fleet platform, the camera supports RTSP and RTMP, standard protocols that many video management systems accept, so with some network set-up a live feed can sit beside your fixed cameras. Live streaming uses far more data than standby, so size each SIM plan for regular live use.

Are there platform or licence fees?

There is no subscription. For fleet orders the platform is set up for you and a one-time licence fee covers it, then the software installs on a Windows computer with internet access. The other running cost is each camera's SIM data plan, sized to how often you stream live.

Can security guards wear body cameras in Australia?

Yes, worn openly, a body camera can film in public places and on premises you guard in every state and territory. Surveillance devices laws differ by state and territory, so wear the camera in plain view, say when recording starts and follow your employer's policy. Licensing for security work differs between states and territories. This is general information, not legal advice.

What do I need to know about using one on duty in Australia?

Worn openly, a body camera can film in public places and on premises you control in every state and territory. Surveillance devices laws differ by state and territory, so wear the camera openly, say that it records, and never record a private conversation you are not part of or film where people expect privacy. Licensing for security work differs between states and territories, and the camera gives no authority of any kind. This is general information, not legal advice.
