Description

The VIM-POLICECAM16 is built around one job: producing footage that still holds up when someone reviews it weeks later.

It records up to 3840 x 2160 at 30fps through a 32 megapixel sensor and a 140 degree lens, with Wide Dynamic Range and 3D de-noise to handle the uneven lighting that ruins most body camera footage. Eight 850nm infrared LEDs cover darkness, two microphones with noise reduction carry the audio, and date, time and User ID are stamped into every file. A 128GB microSD card is included, with support for cards up to 512GB, plus over 8 hours of recording at 1080p, in an IP66 housing rated to a 2 metre drop.

Features

4K evidence quality: Records up to 3840 x 2160 at 30fps through a 32 megapixel sensor, so faces, plates and fine scene detail hold up when someone reviews the footage later.
Video, photo and audio in one device: Switch between 4K video, 32 megapixel stills and noise reduced audio, so an incident can be documented in whichever form suits it.
Day and night coverage: Eight 850nm infrared LEDs and a 140 degree ultra wide lens keep the picture usable in low light and in confined spaces where a narrow lens loses the context.
Handles difficult light: Wide Dynamic Range recording and 3D de-noise control blown highlights and blocked shadows, which is the difference between a face you can identify and a silhouette.
Rugged, with storage to match: IP66 housing, 2 metre shock rating, loop recording, and a 128GB microSD card included with support for cards up to 512GB, which together suit long shifts in hard environments.
Documented by default: Date, time and User ID are stamped into every recording, and two microphones with noise reduction capture audio alongside the video.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

Foot patrol and vehicle stops

Interactions that need an accurate record, in conditions you do not control. 4K holds the detail, the 140 degree lens keeps the surroundings in frame rather than just the person in front of you, and every file carries a date, time and User ID stamp.

Night work and confined spaces

Eight 850nm IR LEDs cover darkness, and Wide Dynamic Range handles the harder problem, which is a scene lit unevenly: a doorway, a torch beam, headlights behind a subject. 3D de-noise keeps the result reviewable rather than grainy.

Long shifts in rough conditions

An IP66 housing rated to a 2 metre drop, over 8 hours of recording at 1080p, and a 128GB microSD card included with support for cards up to 512GB, so the camera outlasts the shift. Loop recording keeps it going when the card is full.

How it Works

Mount and set up: Attach the camera with the supplied lock clips, set your User ID so it stamps onto every file, and charge over USB-C.
Record the shift: One press starts 4K video with noise reduced audio. IR night vision comes in automatically as the light drops, and loop recording keeps going when storage fills.
Offload the footage: Connect over USB-C to copy files from the camera, or read the microSD card directly. Each file carries its date, time and User ID.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long can the VIM-POLICECAM16 record on a single charge?

The camera is rated for above 8 hours of continuous recording at 1080p, so a typical shift can usually be covered when the battery is fully charged.

What resolutions can this body camera record in?

It records up to 3840x2160p 30FPS in 4K, with additional options at 2560x1440p, 1920x1080p, 1280x720p and VGA to match storage and bandwidth needs.

Does this model work well in low-light conditions?

Yes. The camera uses eight 850nm infrared LEDs and dedicated night vision modes to capture usable footage in very low light and darkness.

How is video stored and can I expand the memory?

Video records to a microSD card. A 128GB card is included, and the camera supports cards up to 512GB, with loop recording available to overwrite the oldest clips when space is needed.

Does the camera record audio as well as video?

Yes. Two built-in microphones with noise reduction record clear audio alongside video, which is saved in WAV format and can be used for evidence review.
